The Festival

Féile Patrick Byrne is a traditional music festival held annually on the Palm Sunday weekend in and around Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. Organised by the Carrickmacross branch of Comhaltas, the Féile was set up to act as a flagship event in the promotion of Irish traditional music in the locality.

Féile Patrick Byrne has grown steadily since its inception in 2007 as a two day workshop weekend. In 2016 our event ran for six days and was attended by over 1,000 people. It has been successful in showcasing the finest traditional performers to local audiences. The knock-on effect has been a raised awareness of traditional music and a significant growth in the uptake of classes in traditional arts which Carrickmacross Comhaltas provide for both adults and young people.
“Féile Patrick Byrne has evolved as a significant traditional music festival in the county with the core artistic programme growing in strength year on year. The festival is programmed and delivered by a dedicated and able branch of Comhaltas in Carrickmacross.”
